Incorporated in 1888, Escondido is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County. Escondido, which is Spanish for “hidden,” is situated in a valley amidst rolling hills and mesas. The community is well connected with the rest of the County by Interstate 15.

In the past, citrus and grape cultivation contributed largely to the community’s growth; which once had the largest lemon-packing house in the world. Besides agriculture, Escondido’s economy today is fueled by industries such as tourism, service, high-tech and retail sectors.

Escondido is famous for its vineries and boasts of some of the oldest vineyards in San Diego. The Grape Day festival and parade is held every year to commemorate the city’s main cash crop of the yesteryears.

Escondido has an extensive choice of homes available for sale from the lower 400s to the millions. New homes are regularly built and are quickly sold. The city is constantly growing with new housing built to accommodate its burgeoning population.
